The Titan Drowns

The Titan Drowns - Nhys Glover What were the main relationships explored in this book? I think there were many layers to this story. You had the relationships of the people onboard the Titanic and you had the main characters who were trying to deal with their own situations.

3 things I liked about the book … The overall setting, the research on Titanic and the way all the characters blend in together between different eras. I also liked that although this book was part of a series, it was easy to read as a stand alone story.

Favourite character(s) …I'll pick Marco and Karl. They were so enigmatic and I enjoyed reading the sections on them.

Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy from the author which did not affect my honest opinion.

Blown Circuit: Explosive Spy Action for Mystery Thriller Fans (#2)

Blown Circuit - Lars Guignard What is the time period in which the book happens? In the spring, 20th century.

What part would you change in the story, and why? Just didn't want it to end. Michael is a multi-layered character and there are so many aspects to discover. I hope there are more books in the series.

What are your concerns about this book? No concerns at all. This was an enjoyable read that was well-written and I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Time Killer

Time Killer - Todd M Thiede Who was your favorite character? Jesse, enjoyed her outlook on life. Always cheerful.

Was the story credible? Yes, the story was credible. I can honestly see some idiot going crazy over people that might be wasting his time.

What did you dislike? Some book club members and I felt the story needed a little editing. Sometimes the author repeated things but used different wording.

Examples: "I have been following you and your family, watching you and Gwen, little Billy and Sandy in your daily lives."

Then a few sentences later: "Nonetheless, I have been watching all of you."

We understand the family was being watched. Do not understand why the author stated this two different times.

Barbed-Wire Butterflies

Barbed-Wire Butterflies - Jessica Kristie
Top 3 things I liked about the main character. She was resilient and innovative. She never gave up, she tried to comfort the other girls. She always felt compassion, no matter how desperate things were

Top 3 things I liked about the setting in this book. The Hub was the perfect hideaway. It had many rooms. It was frighting and smelt of death

Cover. The cover looked mysterious. The butterflies were perfect. They were filled with hope.

Jack Templar Monster Hunter: The Templar Chronicles: Book One

Jack Templar, Monster Hunter - Jeff Gunhus Formatting / Appearance - There were no issues at all.

Content (overall theme, idea and setting). The overall theme and idea was well executed throughout the book and I am looking forward to reading the second book.

What I liked - The dead mother, when she appeared to Jack. Because she died right after child birth. Jack needed to see & hear from his mother.

The Mountain City Bronzes

The Mountain City Bronzes - Madeleine McLaughlin
What were the main themes of the book? Murder, learning the truth about the past.

Describe 2 different settings or locations. Kevin running through the corridors of the jail, the town people searching the mountain side for the missing children.

Were you able to connect with the main character and why? I connected with the father. He had a heavy burden to carry knowing what he did about the missing children.

Poison Pill

Poison Pill - M.A. Granovsky What alternative title would you choose for this book? Would not change the title. As you become engrossed in the story, it fits perfectly.

Share a quote or two from the book. This quote is not relevant to the book but I question it each time I buy tea - “Whatever happened to plain old tea?”

Share a favorite scene from the book. Benedict's first meeting with Peter at the Serenity Tea Shop.

A Tale of the Other Kind: A Therian Novel

A Tale of the Other Kind - Leandi Cameron Did anyone in the book do something you did not like? Didn't like Quinn killing Daniel, because he was Kai's best friend. This played a central part with Kai's emotions so although it was said, it did work for the story.

What would the main character be likely to do if s/he visited? He would explain, what a shape shifter was. I still find it to be a fascinating concept.

What did you think was the most interesting part of the book? When Kai changed for the first time. He learned his father was the one talked about in legends.

Untimed

Untimed - Andy Gavin Is the story plot or character driven? The plot is rather straightforward despite the time travel options so I would say this story is character driven.

Who in this book would you most like to meet? I would like to meet Yvaine. She's very witty and she would be hilarious.

Do any characters grow or change during the course of the novel? Charlie certainly changes a lot in how, he sees things. Yvaine develops a strong attachment to Charlie. Fink let's go of his rules and regulations to help his son.

What motivates a given character’s actions? The kids were thieves. They stole in order to eat and have a place to stay. We all would try to do whatever it takes to survive.

Fighting the Effects of Gravity: A Bittersweet Journey into Middle Life

Fighting the Effects of Gravity: A Bittersweet Journey Into Middle Life - James Robinson Jr. What other books has this author written? This is the author’s first book. I would personally like to know if he plans on writing more non-fiction.

Did anyone in the book do something you did not like? Not really something I did not like. Just some things I questioned, however. When we all reach a certain age we question stupid things we did in the past.

What kind of book is this? This is a memoir. The author is talking about how middle-age has crept up on him. He talks about his sagging body, how children changed his life, and general mid-life issues.

What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing this book? I personally felt the author wants others to know what they are facing. I have not read a memoir specifically like Robinson's.

Marching With Caesar: Civil War

Marching With Caesar: Civil War - R.W. Peake What was the author's purpose or purposes in writing this book? Personally, I feel that the author just wanted to portray a different side of the Roman Empire. So many books talks about the war (yes this one does also) but there is more to the book than war. It shows friendship. It allows readers to imagine a time when there is not enough information available.

If you could continue the story, what events would you include? This book does not need any additional information added. It was perfect.

Tell in your own words the beginning of the book. The story starts out with Titus telling readers his age and that he is going to relay his memories from war. Titus is proud that he only has war wounds covering the front of his body and no flog marks on his back.

Describe what is happening in the first illustration in the book Titus quickly jumps into the war story between Afranius and Petreius.

Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up From Rock Bottom

Never Give in to Fear: Laughing All the Way Up From Rock Bottom - Marti MacGibbon Were the characters and their problems believable? Since this is a memoir, readers only have the author’s side of the story. I have always been told there are three sides to a story, your side, my side and the truth. We have to take the author’s word that the story is correct. Do I doubt the author? No, not really. I do questions some of the irrational things she went thru or allowed to happen in her life.

Consider the main character: what does he or she believe in? The main character is Marti. During most of the book, I believe the author would have killed if that was the only way to get that next high.

Have you had a life changing revelation from reading this text? Life changing, no I have not. Wondering if I can help someone that has a drug problem then, yes. I have questioned this several times.

What would the main character be likely to do if s/he visited? This all depends, will we see the Marti that was addicted to drugs or the Marti that is in recovery. I personally would not be interested in meeting the Marti on drugs. I would love to meet the Marti that is in recovery, hear the story from her, see her on stage, or watch her witness to others that are suffering with addiction.
